Where do I start from new?
Read the C-Bus Overview document first. This should provide a high-level overview of the capability of C-Bus.
If you are starting on the Clipsal C-Bus technology from new,
the best way to learn is to attend the two-day Clipsal
C-Bus Design and Programming course that is run by Clipsal
UK regularly. Please contact Schneider Electric Training on 0870 608 8608
for course details, cost and schedule.
Alternatively, if you are technically competent, the following
suggested items should get you started on C-Bus (see connection diagram below).
(Please note that Clipsal Australia's website is regularly changing and the associated hyperlinks below may become out-of-date. If any is found to be unreachable or old, please let us know and we'll update it)
The cabling for this example is the following:
- Green Wire = Earth
- Blue Wire = Neutral
- Brown Wire = Live 230V AC
- Red Wire = Load 230V AC
- Pink Wire = C-Bus CAT5e
- Black Wire = RS-232 Serial Cable
Lastly, don't forget to plug in a physical Network Burden (recommended) or enable a software one on the PC Interface otherwise the C-Bus communications will not work properly. The software selectable Network Burden on the PC Interface can only be enabled on a unit with an address of 01. The Burden can be enabled from the "Global Tab" within the GUI for the PC Interface or Network Interface module. |
